Core French Program: Core French Curriculum Document - Nova Scotia I am currently using the Neurolinguistic Approach in my Core French classroom. This approach was founded by Joan Netten and Claude Germain. Extensive research has been collected to support this practice and the success of this teaching method. The Halifax Regional School Board supports this approach and the goal is to have this approach implemented in all Core French classrooms by 2017. This approach focuses on largely on the oral French language. 70% of our class time will be spent on learning and practicing simple french structures. Standard questions based on selected themes are created and will be followed. Student's will provide responses that are relevant them. This provides students with an authentic experience. Once students have a good understanding of the oral structures, we then move on to reading these learned structures. We will continue by writing our learned structures and then we end with reading the compositions that have been written. We will repeating this model with for each of our themes. Please check the grade level to find out what themes and structures your child is working on in class.
